Jordan a trusted partner to Ukraine, says Charge d’Affaires
Amman, Ukraine’s Charge D’affaires to Jordan, Dmytro Byliev, said Jordan is “a reliable” partner for Ukraine, adding his country is seeking to strengthen relations with Jordan in various fields.
During a press conference held today at the embassy here, he said Ukraine highly appreciates Jordan’s role at the international level, based on His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision in various fields, at the fore is bringing peace to the world and combating terrorism, adding the two countries share common views on various issues.
Byliev reiterated his country’s call for opening a Jordanian embassy in Kiev, adding such a step will enhance trade exchange between the two countries, achieve balance in the trade volume and open new horizons for cooperation to serve the common interests.
Ukraine, after the recent changes in the political scene, is working to diversify its international relations and views Jordan as a reliable partner in the Middle East, he pointed out.
The new goals of the current government in Ukraine are to bring peace to the country, protect its sovereignty, restore territorial integrity, implement reforms, strengthen defense capabilities, ensure full membership in the EU and NATO, as well as attracting foreign investment and reaching economic development by 40 percent in the next five years, he noted.
As for the relations with Jordan, Byliev said the two countries share the strategic importance in the global security system, where Ukraine plays an important role in the European security network, and Jordan has a strategic role in achieving security in the Middle East, which creates an opportunity to enhance ties, and exchange expertise.
The two countries, he noted, share the same interest, attitudes and visions of rejecting extremism, fighting terrorism and bringing peace.
Ukraine, he affirmed, seeks to strengthen its relations with Jordan in various fields, especially traditional and alternative energy.
With the challenges related to food security in the Middle East, he said Ukraine views Jordan as an important gateway to the region’s markets because of the Kingdom’s strategic location and security stability making it an important platform for cooperation in this field.
The diplomat expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Jordan in the field of information technology (IT) and exchange expertise to help Jordan in developing the necessary infrastructure to support this sector in Jordan, in cooperation with the government and the private sector.
Ukraine, with its long experience in technology, space exploration and production of defense systems, is one of the few countries in the world with a large-scale airspace industry and is opening the door to cooperation with Jordan in these areas, he pointed out.
