The Jordanian Nursing Council (JNC) and Arab Board of Health Specializations (ABHS) on Sunday discussed cooperation aspects to improve nursing conditions in Arab countries and ways to implement the nursing residency program.
Discussions also reviewed ways to benefit from Jordan’s expertise in the clinical simulation laboratory for training and exams aspects, according to a JNC statement.
Speaking at the meeting held in Amman, JNC’s Secretary-General, Dr. Hani Nawafleh, said the council is “ready to provide all means of support in nursing and midwifery fields at the pan-Arab levels”.
Jordan’s Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) enhances technical and training capabilities of health professionals, at the national and regional levels, and also contributes to strengthening JNC’s specialization program, which can be used in the ABHS’s exams, Nawafleh pointed out.
Highlighting JNC’s steps aimed to develop a nursing and midwifery residency program, he underlined the importance of signing a joint memorandum of understanding (MoU) to regulate work within this framework.
For his part, ABHS’s president, Omar Rawas, lauded JNC’s efforts aimed to launch a nursing residency program, commending the “advanced” CSC level and welcoming the JNC’s readiness to hold ABHS’s exams in the Amman-based CSC’s headquarters.
On future cooperation, Rawas noted ABHS is looking forward to partnering with the JNC in the various nursing and health fields, given Jordan’s qualified expertise in the nursing and health areas.
In addition, Rawas said more meetings are needed to push joint cooperation to higher levels in the health and nursing sectors at the Arab level.
