JEDCO launches national portal for economic establishments

The Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) has launched the national e-portal for economic establishments (www.smehub.jo), the first e-service for business owners looking for information, services and links that would help them build “sustainable and competitive” businesses.

The portal, which came in response to the “urgent” need to find a platform for local economic entities, will provide “useful” governmental and commercial information and services to economic establishments in the various stages of work, and will offer the information and data required for decision makers, according to a JEDCO statement issued on Sunday.

Speaking during the launching ceremony, JEDCO’s Acting Executive Director, Uday Ghoneim, said the main objective of the portal is to strengthen infrastructure to support companies operating in the Kingdom by improving access to available financial and technical services.

The portal will also foster access of business support organizations and service providers to the Jordanian companies, where basic information about service providers will be integrated, which would promote “effective” contact between companies and service providers, according to Ghoneim.

The portal, he noted, allows users to create an account to receive specific information and services based on their interests, business needs and requirements.

Ghoneim thanked efforts made and the EU’s continuous assistance, which supported the campaign within the project: “Communication on European Union Support for Development of the Private Sector in Jordan”, which works with 6 official government agencies concerned with developing the private sector.
