Amman: Head of the Jordanian National Center for Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC) Raeda al-Qutob met Wednesday with members of the World Bank’s digital transformation team, who are on a visit to the Kingdom from 12-16 of February.
The aim of the visit is to identify key areas in the Jordanian health sector for the adoption of digital transformation to improve health services and quality of care, in addition to identifying the structure of public health monitoring systems in Jordan and the requirements for monitoring diseases, health emergencies, and epidemics in Jordan, according to a statement issued by the JCDC Wednesday.
During the meeting, al-Qutob stressed the importance of the visit and joint cooperation within the framework of strengthening the center’s capabilities in the field of digital transformation as a key entity concerned with the prevention, control and curbing of health threats, and the enhancement of health safety in the Kingdom.
She also underlined the importance of having a unified national digital monitoring system for diseases and epidemics in Jordan, and collecting and uploading data on diseases and epidemics into digital platforms, to which the various relevant health sectors will have access. The main goal is to scientifically analyze data and issue evidence-based recommendations in a timely manner to help decision-makers create effective policies and actions.
Data and information related to monitoring communicable diseases, including diseases common to animals, non-communicable diseases, epidemics, and the public health situation in Jordan in general is vital for the center, due to their importance in understanding disease patterns and assessing the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, she pointed out.
