The Italian Foreign Ministry Sunday said it is following “with great concern” the ongoing escalation in Gaza amid reports of casualties among Palestinian civilians.
According to the official Italian agency AKI, the Ministry urged all parties to exercise restraint to avoid an expansion of hostilities that could cause more casualties and suffering among the civilian population.
The statement noted that “this new wave of violence constitutes another confirmation of the need to resume diplomatic efforts to reach a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
