Israeli occupation plans to build 14,000 housing units in Jerusalem

Ramallah, The Palestinian government Friday said the Israeli occupation’s plans to build 14,000 housing units for Israeli settlers in Jerusalem is considered an escalation that will lead to more tension in the region.

The Palestinian government spokesperson Yousef al-Mahmoud, warned against escalating the situation, saying in the past hours more than a hundred Palestinians were injured in protests that marched in condemnation of US President Donald Trump’s announcement to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

He said the Palestinian leadership will continue to champion for peace and justice that will not be achieved unless a Palestinian state is established with Jerusalem as its capital.

The announcement came after Trump recognized Jerusalem and the capital of Israel and said he plans on moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, violating International law and drawing criticism from world leaders and US allies.
