Israeli forces impose security cordon on West Bank on election eave
Jerusalem, Israeli occupation forces Monday imposed a security cordon on the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip, ahead of the start of the 22nd legislative election on Tuesday in Israel.
“Based on an assessment of the security situation, a comprehensive closure will be imposed on the West Bank, and the crossings with the Gaza Strip will be closed,” said Avichay Adraee, spokesman for the Israeli army.
He explained that the closure would start “from midnight Monday – Tuesday to midnight Tuesday – Wednesday, on the occasion of the legislative elections.”
“The crossings will be reopened and the closure will be lifted based on an assessment of the situation and normal working hours,” he added.
