Israeli authorities demolish Palestinian town in Negev for 198th time

Israeli forces Tuesday demolished Palestinians’ homes in the unrecognised town of “Al-Araqeeb” in the Negev desert for the 198th time since 2000.

The Higher Follow-Up Committee for the Arab Citizens of Israel said that the demolition is the second within a year, as the Israeli forces demolished houses in the town 14 times in 2021. The villagers would usually rebuild the demolished houses using basic materials.

The town is home to 22 families with an overall population of 800, the majority of whom live off farming and rearing livestock. The families managed to produce documents that would show their entitlement to over 1,250 dunam out of some 10,000 dunam.

The Al-Araqeeb village is an Arab town in the Negev desert, and it is eight km north of Beersheba.
