Israel demolishes 3 houses in Bethlehem
Ramallah, – Israeli troops early Monday demolished 3 houses in the al-Walaja village West of Bethlehem sparking confrontations with Palestinian protesters, a Palestinian official confirmed.
The official in charge of the settlement file in the village, Ibrahim Awad, said in a statement that Israeli occupation forces stormed the village amid large-scale security measures, noting that a number of Palestinians were injured during the clashes.
The 2 houses were among 4 whose owners were notified of demolition orders under the pretext they were not licensed. The notice instructs the citizens to demolish their houses themselves and in case they refuse to do so, the Israeli occupation forces will carry out the demolition and charge them for fees, Awad explained, adding that the occupation demolished a makeshift house that belongs to the family of Shukairat.
Israeli troops demolished the house of Ahmad Abul Teen after tens of protesters staged a sit-in camped against the demolition as Israeli forces fired live ammunition and tear gas, Awad said.
