Interior Minister visits number of facilities in Aqaba

Interior Minister, Mazen Faraya, visited Saturday a number of facilities in Aqaba Governorate, which included the Joint Control and Coordination Center in the Southern Industrial Zone, and the Aqaba Governorate house.

Faraya met with staff at the center, which was established last year, with the aim of monitoring public safety in factories operating in the industrial zone, the Aqaba Company for Ports Operations and Management, and the Aqaba Governorate house.

During the visit, which came on the sidelines of the Prime Minister’s field visit to Aqaba, Faraya was briefed by the Center’s director on tasks and duties it carries out in monitoring standard procedures related to public safety in industrial facilities, and ensuring their implementation on the ground.

Faraya stressed the need to continue cooperation and coordination between the center on the one hand, and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Aqaba Governorate and industrial facilities on the other hand.

The Interior Minister visited the the Aqaba Company for Ports Operations and Management, and was briefed on the company’s operations related to public safety procedures in the port, whether with regard to facilities or individuals, and the latest measures taken by stakeholders with regard to avoiding issues that preceded the accident of the chlorine tank fall last year, which could pose a danger in the future.

Faraya also visited the Aqaba governorate house, met its governor, Khaled Hajjaj, and briefed on tasks and duties that the governorate undertakes to meet citizens’ needs.
