Industrial exports surge by JD1.39b in 9 months, says chamber head

Amman, Industrial exports soared by JD1.39 billion to reach about JD5.8 billion in the first nine months of 2022, an unprecedented increase of 50 percent from the JD3.92 billion in the corresponding period of 2021, according to President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry Fathi Jaghbir.

In a statement Monday, he attributed the upswing to stepped-up efforts to prop up the industrial sector.

Industrial exports to the United States grew to JD1.313 billion during the same period, followed by India at JD1.046 billion and Saudi Arabia JD626 million, said Jaghbir.

Mining industries were the top contributor to the increase, climbing by JD859 million to JD1.453 billion, he added.

Jaghbir pointed out that an expansion in production and higher global demand have also played a part in the growth of potash, phosphate, fertilizer and garment exports.
