Huawei Jordan opens new office, announces Huawei Academy in Jordan
Amman, Huawei Technology Cooperatief Jordan opened a new office on Wednesday in Boulevard Amman and launched the plan of Huawei Academy Jordan.
The inauguration was at a ceremony attended by Minister of Labor Sameer Saeed Murad, Minister of Trade and Industry Tariq Hammouri, Minister of ICT Mothanna Gharaibeh, CEO of Crown Prince Foundation, Tamam Mango, in the presence of Pan Weifang, the Chinese Ambassador to Jordan and Huawei Executives.
The launch of the Huawei Academy in Jordan is expected to offer over 3,000 students advanced ICT training over the next three years in cooperation with several Jordanian universities and academies.
The Huawei ICT Academy is part of Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA), which is a partnership between Huawei and Academies around the world. Through this collaboration, the Academy delivers training in the most advanced ICT technologies, encourages students to receive the globally-recognized Huawei certification, and helps trainees develop practical skills in the ICT industry.
To support Huawei’s expanded activities in the Kingdom, the company also opened a new office in the Boulevard. This expansion will help Huawei better serve Jordan’s national ICT and telecommunication needs and reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to the country.
Minister of Labor, Sameer Saeed Murad, said:’ What Huawei’s doing to train Jordanian students, engineers and technicians will support developing the Jordanian talents in the ICT sectors and providing the market with high caliber human resources.’ He mentioned that the government can match the requirement of the international companies who work in Jordan in order to follow the ICT global revolution.”
Minister of ICT, Mothanna Gharaibeh, said: ‘ Thanks Huawei for supporting the ICT in Jordan. Jordan is not only a regional center but also attracted a lot of international companies to open central offices in Amman.” Gharaibeh highlighted what Huawei is doing in developing the Jordanian youth talents through giving the students chances to have training in Huawei ICT Competition that Jordanian team got the 3rd award in the international competition globally in last year.”
Minister of Trade and Industry, Tariq Hammouri, said Jordanian exporting increased 3% in 2018 and this percentage might increase again. Meanwhile, the government will attract more investment in Jordan not only due to the investment environment but also the economic opportunities especially in this important period.
Pan Weifang, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, said, “I’m honored to stand here today, having witnessed over the years what a deep contribution to Jordan Huawei has made in the ICT industry, both through business and through CSR initiatives to develop the capability of the youth. I believe Huawei is a valuable asset to Jordan not only in terms of industry and knowledge sharing, but also as an important player in strengthening the China-Jordan relationship.”
Zhang Liang, Huawei’s General Manager in Jordan, reviewed the company’s outcome globally and locally. He commented, “We are pleased to open a new office in Jordan which will allow us to better serve our customers and partners. This marks an exciting new period of growth for us in the country, and we are looking forward to expand our activities and collaborations with our local partners and customers to further innovate and drive forward the local ICT industry. We thank the government of Jordan for their constant support and hope to work together for many years to come.”
Hazim Haddad, Huawei’s Deputy General Manager in Jordan said: ‘Opening a new office can support the company’s activities and match the expansion plan to support Jordan to become a regional center in ICT in line with H.M King Abdulla II’s Vision of ICT sector.’
At the opening ceremony, Huawei also delivered the award to the three winners of the ‘Huawei ICT Competition 2018’ from Al Balqa University and Princess Sumaya University for Technology. The students participated in the competition in September 2018, representing Jordan at the international final competition in Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China, where they won the 3rd Award prize globally.
