House Legal Committee approves amendments to 2020 Illicit Gains Law

The Lower House Legal Committee, during its meeting on Sunday, headed by MP Mohammad Al-Hilal, approved the draft law amending the Illicit Gains Law of 2020, after making appropriate amendments to its articles.

Speaking during the meeting attended by Minister of Justice, Ahmed Ziyadat, Al-Hilal said the draft law was in line with the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), which the Kingdom has ratified.

Under the new bill, perpetrators of illicit gain will be prosecuted and amendments to the law expand the employees subject to their umbrella, to include every “increase, or abnormal growth” to the wealth and assets of any public servant.
