Hotel occupancy rates reach 88% in Aqaba-ASEZA

Commissioner for Toursim & Environment at Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Nidal Majali said tourist and artistic activities are “attractive and key” pillars in increasing visitor turnout to port city of Aqaba.

In a press statement on Thursday, Majali noted occupancy rates in Aqaba hotels recorded 88% on weekend, expecting a rise to 94% on Friday, according to hotel reservations data in the Aqaba city.

However, he said Aqaba hotels can still receive visitors seeking recreation and shopping despite the high reservation rates, noting that three-star hotels or less still have vacant rooms, with occupancy rates of about 80%.

Majali called on operators of tourist businesses, including restaurants, hotels and shops, to optimally benefit from the booming season by providing the best services, aimed to ensure an “active” tourist flow.
