Health Ministry : 2 COVID-19 related deaths, 225 infection during last week

2 new deaths and 225 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Jordan during the period form 23 to 29 April.

The caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 14,066 and 1,695,970 respectively, since the outbreak began in March of 2020, according to the Ministry of Health daily brief.

It said that 18,164 PCR tests were collected during the last week, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 16,757,330 and that the positivity rate today was about 1.24 per cent.

During the last week also, the brief said that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was at zero per cent, intensive care beds 1 per cent and ventilators 1 per cent.

In the Central region, isolation beds were at an occupancy rate of 1 per cent, ICU beds at 3 per cent and ventilators 1 per cent, it said.

In the south, it added, the occupancy rate of isolation beds reached zero per cent, ICU beds zero per cent and ventilators zero per cent.
