Health Minister checks on work progress in King Abdullah University Hospital


Amman, Health Minister, Dr. Saad Jaber, said, “His Majesty King Abdullah II ordered the purchase of 200 artificial respirators, which are expected to arrive within two weeks.”

These respirators, Jaber said, will contribute to “enhancing our capabilities and actions to meet any possible high levels of infection with the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).”

The minister made his remarks during a tour in the King Abdullah University Hospital (KAUH), in the northern governorate of Irbid, accompanied by Labour Minister, Nidal Batainah, to check first hand on the work progress of medical cadres and their application of the protocol prepared to receive sick and suspected cases and ways of dealing with them.

Jaber chaired the crisis team’s meeting at the KAUH to discuss medical measures taken, the optimum level of health care provided to the infected and suspects inside the hospital, and to ensure the availability of a strategic storage of medical supplies, and the level of medical care provided to citizens during this crisis.

Jaber stressed the necessity of applying the therapeutic and preventive protocol by all working medical cadres and monitoring teams due to its important role in producing positive results by maintaining public safety, especially in the proper handling of cases in the KAUH and all hospitals that have been approved.

the minister also chaired a meeting in the Irbid Health Directorate with the crisis team to discuss the latest developments in the epidemiological situation in Irbid, measures taken by monitoring teams deployed across the governorate and their readiness to deal with all cases at the required level.

Jaber pointed out that the ministry has expanded in conducting Coronavirus tests across the Kingdom by enhancing specialized teams to follow up on suspected cases and those in contact with them, and providing medical capabilities and tests in large quantities, which contributed to identifying suspected and reported cases around the clock.
