Gov’t to reduce board members in companies it owns
The government is reducing the number of board of directors members in companies it owns as the number will be reduced to 5 from its previous number of 9 members, Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said Tuesday.
Adaileh said in a press conference in the Prime Ministry that the decision is part of the government’s measures to restructure the public sector, reduce expenditure and improve performance.
He said that there are 142 board members representing 22 government-owned companies as it is expected that the number will be reduced to 100.
On the government’s decision to start a phased reopening of the Kingdom’s airports starting in the first half of August, Adaileh said that the decision taken and measures adopted will be under constant assessment against the epidemiological developments in Jordan and abroad.
