Gov’t striving to enhance human rights, freedoms –– Official
Amman, Government Coordinator for Human Rights Basel Tarawneh said on Tuesday that the government is doing all in its capacity to realize basic human rights and freedoms through exploiting modern techniques, especially in the human rights complaints system.
During a meeting of a special task force that he chaired at the Prime Ministry and was attended by governmental bodies concerned with receiving complaints on human rights as well as experts from Lawyers Without Borders organisation, Tarawneh said that today’s meeting is part of the transparent governments’ initiative, stessing the need to upgrade the complaints system.
Such deliberations, he said, are aimed at utilizing the various expertise in this field and providing optimal service for the complainants, especially regarding human rights.
He said that upon the directives of Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, and within the framework of Jordan’s commitment to enhancing human rights, a discussion will take place on setting up a special complaints system as part of the government’s initiative to launch the electronic platform.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Public Security Directorate’s Transparency and Human Rights Bureau, the Ministry of Justice, Interior Ministry, Integrity and Anti-corruption Commission, Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, the media and the Government Coordinator for Human Rights.
