Gov’t says committed to dialogue with teachers syndicate

Amman, The government on Saturday that it remains committed to dialogue with teachers to enhance their living conditions and upgrade the educational process.

In a statement issued following a meeting with representatives of the teachers’ syndicate, the government said “the negotiating table is the basis for dialogue and agreement”, adding that resorting to strikes undermines students’ interest and the teacher’s image.

The statement said a pay hike the teachers are demanding is linked to performance development, something agreed upon with the previous council of the teachers’ syndicate. The government voiced its full support and respect of free expression, emphasizing that the law should be umbrella for everyone to safeguard the security of the society and public property and people’s free movement.
