The government has kicked off dialogue with representatives of the private sector with a focus on priority actions for the next two years, economic policy and reforms needed to propel growth and generate jobs.

Earlier, His Majesty King Abdullah II ordered the government to formulate a clear-cut and time-framed economic action program in partnership with the private sector to drive post-Covid recovery and spur economic growth.

During a meeting with board and members of the Jordan Economic Forum (JEF), Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shriedeh said these encounters area translation of His Majesty’s directives to step up dialogue with the private sector to serve the national economy and improve livings standards.

He said the priority areas of action proposed by the government for the next stage are realistic and commensurate with the current conditions, stressing that the government is keen to hear from the private sector over the next weeks.

Shriedeh pointed out that the priorities set forth by the government are still draft but will be endorsed by the end of August, noting that the priorities will be reviewed on a semiannual basis to accommodate local and external developments.
