Gov’t monitoring teams fine businesses, citizens for non-compliance with defense orders
The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and the competent monitoring authorities in charge of implementing Defense Order 20 have followed up on the establishments’ and individuals’ adherence to defense orders related to safety and preventive health measures, on Tuesday, and fined 130 entities in a number of sectors countrywide.
In a press statement on Wednesday, the ministry’s media spokesperson, Yenal Barmawi, said monitoring visits were carried out, with the participation of Public Security Directorate (PSD), to 3,135 establishments in various regions of the Kingdom.
Violations included 27 groceries, 33 bakeries, 43 tourist restaurants, 10 coffee shops, 13 sewing centers, and other facilities for violating defense orders related to preventive safety and health requirements, he added.
The gov’t supervisory authorities have intensified their tours on establishments during the past two days in light of the high numbers flocking shops and bakeries in preparation for the air depression, according to Barmawi.
Meanwhile, 108 citizens were fined for failing to wear face masks, he said, adding that intensive field tours are continuing to ensure compliance with defense orders.
