Gov’t floats tenders to build 16 new public schools

The Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the public works and planning and international cooperation ministries announced tenders to build 16 public schools in various governorates countrywide, funded by a loan from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said construction of the new school premises comes as part of its efforts to meet need for school buildings to accommodate the “natural” increase in the student numbers, get rid of rented classrooms and end double-shift schooling system.

Earlier, the ministry, in cooperation with Ministry of Public Works, had launched bids to carry out related studies and prepare documents. Execution tenders were floated in Jordan’s Official Gazette to Jordanian and Saudi companies for implementation, the statement added.

As for supervision during the implementation process, Jordanian engineering offices will carry out the inspection and monitoring tasks, in cooperation with concerned Jordanian authorities, the statement pointed out.
