Gov’t condemns Israel’s order of stopping maintenance, restoration works in Al-Aqsa
The government, on Tuesday, condemned Israeli authorities’ order to the Jerusalem Awqaf Department to stop all maintenance and restoration works in the Al-Aqsa Mosque/the al-Haram Al-Sharif and threatening to arrest those who carry out their duties in this regard.
Minister of State for Media Affairs and the government spokesman, Mohammad Al-Momani, underlined that all the Al-Aqsa Mosque affairs are under the jurisdiction of the Jerusalem Awqaf Department, affiliated with the Jordan Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, in accordance with international and humanitarian laws.
He added that the Israeli occupation authorities have nothing to do with any of the maintenance and restoration work in the holy shrine.
Al-Momani voiced the Kingdom’s absolute rejection of such acts of provocation, saying Jordan is determined to continue to fulfill its responsibilities in defending Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
