Global ICT companies in Jordan create jobs, support economy

International Information and Communications Technology (ICT) companies operating in Jordan are key direct investments supporting the national economy and generating more job opportunities for Jordanians, stakeholders at the ICT sector told Petra on Monday.

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh said that the presence of such companies in the Kingdom is a clear evidence of qualified Jordanian youth as well as the importance of Jordan’s strategic location as a regional hub providing technical services and support.

“These global firms have chosen Jordan due to its attractive investment environment that provides all facilities and infrastructure, which foreign investors and businessmen need, mainly in ICT sector,” representative of the ICT sector in the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Haitham Rajbeh, indicated.

For his part, Executive Director of the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Intaj), Nidal al-Bitar, highlighted that about 30 global information technology companies are currently operating in Jordan, noting that the association plans to build a market survey unit next year to issue more comprehensive and accurate studies and statistics on this field.

Regional Director of Business Solutions at Microsoft Maher Al-Khayat underlined that the company in Jordan aims to accelerate the development of high-productivity and large-scale communities that embrace solutions using “Microsoft” technology.

“Microsoft’s strategy is to build deep partnerships with leading industry, governmental and non-governmental organizations, invest in infrastructure and participate in and develop the tech ecosystem to spur innovation in the tech environment sustainably,” he added.
