GDP grows 1.9pct in Q3 of 2017
Amman– Jordan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) picked up by 1.9 percent at fixed market prices in the third quarter of 2017, according to preliminary quarterly estimates.
The Department of Statistics said most sectors showed signs of positive growth during the July-September period of 2017 compared with the same quarter a year earlier.
It indicated that the growth in the GDP for that period was mainly driven by higher output of the agricultural sector which expanded by 3.8 percent followed by the transport, storage and communications sector (3.7 percent); the social and personal services sector (3.1 percent); the finance, insurance and real estate sector (2.8 percent) and the electricity and water sector which grew by 2.3 percent.
