Jakarta, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi said that the GCC and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are committed to strengthening cooperation and coordination to achieve mutually desired goals.
Albudaiwi made this remark while on a visit to the ASEAN headquarters in Jakarta, where he was received by ASEAN Secretary General Kao Kim Hourn.
Albudaiwi said that his visit is part of the GCC countries’ efforts to build close relations with regional and international countries and blocs, and to enhance cooperation between the GCC countries and ASEAN, based on shared interests and deep historical ties.
The two officials emphasized the need to implement the decisions reached by GCC and ASEAN at the Riyadh Summit, held on October 20, 2023, and discussed topics of common interest, upcoming meetings, particularly the second summit between them, to be hosted by Malaysia in 2025, and meetings involving senior officials that will take place prior to this summit.

o tackled were the latest developments in the regional and international arenas, especially the crisis in Gaza Strip, with the two officials emphasizing the need to reach an immediate ceasefire and resolve the crisis in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
