GAM, UNDP implement environmentally sustainable projects
The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), with funding from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), is working on rehabilitating the GAM’s Basman district office building, by installing a thermal insulation, energy and water efficiency system, with the aim of reducing the electricity, diesel and water bill by up to 30%.
GAM’s deputy director, Hussam Najdawi, said the project also covers the office’s interior renovations and provides places designated for the elderly and people with disabilities, a part of a several similar initiatives carried out by the UNDP in the capital, Amman, with a total value of about $ 700,000, according to a press statement.
To carry out the renovations, the GAM’s director for sustainable urban development project, Miqdad Rababa’a, said a tender was floated to rehabilitate the GAM’s Basman district office building by installing an internal thermal insulation system, added the statement.
