Food control authority steps up inspections
The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) has stepped up inspection efforts and surprise visits to food establishments, shutting down three and warning 67 others on Monday.
JFDA Director-General Nizar Muheidat told Petra that a total of 926 kilograms of solid foodstuffs were destroyed today and about 14.5 tons are currently held by authorities pending further examination.
He urged the public to follow health safety guidelines when handling and preparing foodstuffs and report any violations to the administration via its hotlines and pages on social media networks.
