FM meets US Congressmen in Amman
Amman, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Monday met with a number of members of the US Congress, including members of the Foreign Affairs Committee Congressmen Adam Kinzinger and Vicente Gonzalez, and member of the US House Committee on Appropriations, Tom Graves, who are visiting the Kingdom.
Safadi briefed the delegation on regional developments, especially those related to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Syrian crisis and the war on terrorism.
In the meeting, Safadi lauded the deep-rooted and strategic relations between Jordan and the United States, and the US support to the Kingdom.
He pointed out to pressures on several vital sectors in the Kingdom due to hosting 1.3 million Syrians despite difficult economic conditions.
Safadi said Jordan is dealing with exceptional circumstances as a result of the Syrian refugees crisis and regional crises impacts, which calls for exceptional international action to help it address these challenges.
He also underlined Jordan’s firm position on the need to intensify efforts to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace in the region and to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Also, the meeting discussed international efforts to combat terrorism within a holistic approach.
The delegation stressed the importance of Jordan’s role and King Abdullah’s efforts in enhancing regional security and stability and their keenness to strengthen Jordan-US relations.
