FM conveys King’s condolences to victims of Beirut explosion

Upon directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, on Tuesday visited Lebanon and met the Lebanese President Michel Aoun and conveyed to him His Majesty’s condolences to the victims of the tragic explosion in Beirut, and the Kingdom’s absolute solidarity with the Lebanese people to overcome the repercussions of the explosion.


Safadi also conveyed this message of solidarity from His Majesty with Lebanon during his meetings with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab and Foreign Minister Charbel Wahba, with whom he discussed coordination of Jordanian aid to Lebanon.


President Aoun expressed his appreciation to King Abdullah for the Kingdom’s stance of solidarity with Lebanon and for Jordan’s assistance, which reflects the deep relations between the two countries and the two peoples.


Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab also thanked His Majesty the King for actions taken by the Kingdom to help Lebanon.


During two separate meetings with the Foreign Minister, Berri and Diab emphasized the depth of Jordanian-Lebanese ties, and commended Jordan’s stances towards Lebanon.


Safadi and Wahba discussed aid that Lebanon needs to face the repercussions of this crisis. Safadi said that Jordanian aid is ongoing and that the transport, energy, health and other sectors are ready to assist and deliver international aid to Lebanon.


Safadi visited the field hospital, which His Majesty gave directions to dispatch to Beirut and began its operations yesterday, and conveyed to its staff His Majesty’s pride of them as they perform their humanitarian duty towards the brotherly Lebanese people with all dedication and professionalism.
