Fayez: Jordan, a model of coexistence

Senate President Faisal Fayez said Tuesday that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, has set a model of coexistence of all components of Jordanian society based on mutual respect, trust, love and harmony without compromising religious beliefs.

Welcoming Chargé d’Affairs of the Vatican embassy in Jordan Mons. Mauro Lalli, Fayez cited the World Interfaith Harmony Week launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly and the Amman Message, which underlined the Jordanian leadership’s role in promoting the values of Love, brotherhood and peace among faiths and rejecting hate speech.

Fayez stressed the need to intensify efforts to promote the culture of peaceful coexistence and dialogue, either within the one society, or among the different societies, as a key pillar of social security and peace.

For his part, the Vatican Chargé d’Affairs commended Jordan’s role in promoting human values and common denominators among the followers of the monotheistic religions, stressing the importance of Jordan, with its various religious sites, as the start point of the Christian pilgrimage to the holy places.
