Faraya inaugurates interior ministry’s EU-funded conference and training center

Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya on Thursday inaugurated the EU-funded conference and training center at the ministry’s headquarters, which was established by the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Decentralization, Accountability and Integrity at the Local Level Programme (DAILL) in Jordan.

The newly-launched center aims to build government employees’ capacity in management, development and governance, and provide training programs, according to a ministry statement.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Faraya said the new center reflects the ministry’s keenness to provide an “empowering” environment, training programs and opportunities for exchanging expertise, which would enhance public employees’ skills in management and development, and implement the ministry’s vision and role aimed to continue its development process and staff-building capacity.

For her part, UNDP Resident Representative in Jordan, Randa Abul-Hassan, said the UNDP established the new conference and training center, which is the first green gov’t building, with the aim of providing an “enabling” environment for sustainable local development by integrating international standards for digitization and digital transformation, strategic planning, and compliance to eco-related protocols and gender-based considerations.

The center obtained a gold certificate for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), which reflects its implementation of green criteria approved by the most advanced rating systems at the global level in this field, the statement added.
