Exports of ACI rise by 9 percent in 11 months

Amman, Exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) increased by 9 per cent during the first 11 months of 2018 standing at JD3.856 billion, compared to the same period of 2017 thanks to the rise of exports of seven sectors, according to ACI data.

Indian, Iraq, the United States an Saudi Arabia topped the list of markets that import Jordanian products with JD2.024 billion.

Exports to India rose by 13.5 percent standing at JD571 million and to the United State by 9 percent reaching JD463 million.

Despite a 1.5 percent decline in exports to Saudi Arabia, the country remained one of 4 major importers of Jordanian products.

Sector-wise, the chamber’s exports were distributed to the mining industries with a total value of JD899 million, chemical and cosmetic products with JD731 million, medical supplies that amounted to JD535 million, and engineering, electrical and IT sectors with JD415 million.

Exports of the leather and garment sectors amounted to JD414 million, food, agriculture and livestock stood at JD375 million and packaging, paper, and office supplies reached JD84 million.
