Education minister showcases Jordan’s distance education experience at ISESCO conference
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tayseer Nuaimi, participated in the virtual conference organized on Thursday by the Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) under the slogan “Educational Systems in Facg Crises and Emergencies -Covid- 19 “.
During the video conference, which was organized by ISESCO in cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Education, the conference’s current President, the organization’s education ministers discussed efforts to address Coronavirus pandemic’s repercussions on the educational sector.
Moreover, the ministers stressed the right to education in this emergency phase that Arab countries are battling, and highlighted their countries’ “successful” experiences in the education file during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the field challenges that their countries faced to exchange expertise.
The ministers also discussed preparations of ISESCO countries to secure resumption of school life and to deal with the warnings issued by the World Health Organization about easing quarantine restrictions prematurely.
During the conference, Nuaimi presented Jordan’s experience in the field of distance education in light of the school closure since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and the continuing reasons for the closure decision.
Since school were closed, the Jordanian education ministry adopted an integrated plan to ensure the continued learning of students by launching several distance education platforms, Nuaimi pointed out.
