Eastern Military Zone foils infiltration, smuggling attempt

The Eastern Military Region, in coordination with Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), thwarted on Thursday dawn, an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle drugs by a vehicle from Syrian territory into Jordan.

An official military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said the rules of engagement were applied in the incident, leading to the suspects’ retreat into the Syrian territories.

The source added that the pickup truck, which was left behind the fleeing smugglers, was seized loaded with large quantities of narcotic substances.

After inspecting the area, 1,127,000 Captagon pills and 7,620 palm-sized hashish sheets were seized, and transferred to the concerned authorities, the source noted.

The source also added that the zone will “deal firmly” with any infiltration or smuggling attempt to safeguard citizens and the Kingdom’s security.
