DoS, WFP ink agreement on analytic studies
Amman, The Department of Statistics (DoS) Wednesday singed an agreement with the World Food Programme (WFP) aimed at improving the DoS’s skills in the field of analytic studies on food security and market prices.
The agreement also seeks to help the DoS in developing an early warning system for safety nets and systems for detection and reporting, in addition to displaying the data and improving the trajectory of projects on food security.
The agreement, signed by Director of the DoS, Qassem Zoubi, Country Director and Resident Representative of the Country Director WFP Jordan Sarah Gordon-Gibson, is part of the program’s efforts to support the Government and strengthen its policies to place food security on top of its foremost development issues.
According to the agreement, the WFP will provide technical and financial assistance to strengthen national capacities in the areas of data collection activities, storage and analysis systems and programs, as well as data sharing, food security monitoring, assessments and surveys and food security analysis.
Gibson said that the WFP has extensive experience in food security analysis and the development of early warning systems for food security, expressing willingness to share this expertise with the DoS within the framework of cooperation with the Jordanian government to achieve development goals.
