Development ministry, UNDP sign memo on ministry infrastructure, social services

The Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the infrastructure of the MoSD, improve social work scope and improve the quality of social services.

Minister Ayman Mufleh said that the participatory approach in social work between the MoSD and the UNDP would have a positive impact by providing technical support to equip and modernise the ministry’s infrastructure in crisis management and build the capacity of staff and the crisis and disaster management team.

Mufleh added that the MoU would enhance capacity-building in the field of responding to gender issues, especially for caregivers who work directly with service users.

The Resident Representative of the UNDP in Jordan, Randa Abul-Hassan, said that the signing of the MoU is a “turning point” in the level of cooperation and partnership between the UN programme and the MoSD towards achieving the sustainable development goals in Jordan.

Randa explained that the UNDP is considering providing further support to improve social services.
