Crescent of Shawwal not been sighted in Jordan, Eid to begin on Sunday

Jordan’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Karim Khasawneh stated that the sighting of the new crescent Moon of Shawwal in Jordan was not confirmed, stressing that Saturday, May 23, will mark the 30th and final day of Ramadan.

Since the crescent moon of Shawwal, which is the 10th month of the lunar calendar, was not visible, Eid Al-Fitr will begin on Sunday, May 24.

According to a communiqué issued by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, all ministries and public departments will be on holiday from Saturday morning May 23, 2020, until Monday evening May 25, 2020.
