COVID kills 16 in Jordan, positive tests at 4 percent

COVID-19 killed 16 in Jordan in the last 24 hours, as the death toll stands at 9,384 and a total of 890 cases were recorded, pushing the caseload to some 731,430, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Breaking down Monday’s tally, the MoH said in a statement 392 cases were recorded in Amman, 128 in Irbid, 115 in Zarqa, 61 in Balqa, 41 in Karak, 39 in Aqaba, 39 in Mafraq, 25 in Maan, 17 in Ajloun, 15 in Jerash, 9 in Tafilah and 9 in Madaba.

The MoH said in a press statement that some 84 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals while 89 others were admitted, as the total number of COVID-19 patients receiving medical treatment in hospitals stands at 590.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom hovers around 10,430, it added.

More than 711,610 COVID-19 patients, including patients who had been self-isolating, have fully recovered so far.

Around 4.2 percent of the 21,050 COVID-19 tests that were conducted today came back positive compared with 3.8 percent Sunday.
