The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measurement of inflation, increased by 0.81 per cent in the first six months of 2021 to reach 102.00, compared with a CPI of 101.18 for the same period in 2020, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS).

The DoS, in its monthly report on Wednesday, indicated that the consumer price index for June 2021 increased by 1.77 per cent, reaching 102.29, compared with 100.51 for the same month in 2020.

On a monthly level, the general index of consumer prices for June went up by 0.24 per cent, reaching 102.29, compared with 102.05 in May.

The basic index of consumer prices for June 2021 reached 68.96, compared with 68.43 during June 2020, registering an increase of 0.77 per cent, the DoS data showed.

On the cumulative level, the basic consumer price index for the first six months of 2021 amounted to 69.00, compared with 68.33 for the same period of 2020, registering an increase of 0.98 per cent.
