Committee discusses quarantine communications coverage for expats

Amman, The Special Crisis Committee of the telecommunications sector discussed providing coverage for quarantine sites intended for expatriates who are set to return to the Kingdom following a recent government decision.

Chief Commissioner of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC), Ghazi Jbour, on Tuesday met with representatives of telecommunications companies Zain, Orange and Umniah to make arrangements for the communications coverage.

Jbour said the number of people who registered on the online platform to return to Jordan reached 23,000, pointing out that they will be quarantined in the Dead Sea region, while 1,500 people will be quarantined in the al-Omari Border Center.

The TRC coordinated with the three telecommunications companies to allow quarantined individuals to communicate with their families and to allow students to continue their online education.

Jbour pointed out that the Commission will monitor the performance of communication networks on an ongoing basis, adding that companies will submit periodic reports on networks performance.
