Business owners call for boosting Jordanian-Saudi economic ties

Jordanian and Saudi business owners have called for a new start to the two countries’ trade and investment relations, especially after the outcome of the Mecca summit, called for by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz to help Jordan economically.

During a meeting organized by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce in Amman on Monday for the joint Jordanian-Saudi Business Council in the presence of business owners and representatives of various economic sectors from both countries, they stressed the need to develop practical mechanisms that contribute to overcoming the obstacles that prevent developing trade and investment cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

The business owners also affirmed the need to establish partnerships to implement investment projects in sectors with added value and benefit from the advantages and incentives available in Jordan.

President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Nael Kabariti, described the Jordanian-Saudi relations as historic and a unique example of strategic integration in various fields, stressing that Saudi Arabia is an important trade partner of Jordan.

He expressed appreciation for the summit called for by the Saudi monarch to discuss ways to support Jordan to overcome its economic crisis, pointing to the $2.5 billion economic aid package to Jordan that was announced during the summit.

President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Isa Haidar Murad, praised the important role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over the past decades to support Jordan’s economy.

Head of the Saudi side to the council Hamdan bin Abdullah Al-Samrain said that the council will witness a new start that will help in establishing stronger economic relationship between the two brotherly countries, exploiting opportunities and setting up joint projects.

He pointed to the role that Saudi business owners can play in helping Jordan overcome the pressing economic challenges facing it.

Al-Samrain praised the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the outcome of the Mecca summit in this regard.
