Baghdad tripartite summit reiterates Jordan’s role in protecting Jerusalem sanctities. First add

The leaders of Jordan and Egypt commended Iraq’s economic reforms that contributed to cushioning the blue of the plunge in oil prices and the ramifications of COVID-19.

They also expressed support for the Iraqi preparations for the parliamentary elections slated for October. The preparations would guarantee transparent elections.

Jordan and Egypt also emphasized their support for Iraq’s efforts in upholding security and exercising sovereignty against foreign interference.

Also on the agenda was the Renaissance Dam issue, as Jordan and Iraq stressed support for Egypt and Sudan, warning against Ethiopia unilateral decisions, chief of which is filling the Renaissance Dam, adding the filling of the dam should be conditioned upon reaching a “just solution that would preserve the water rights of Egypt and Sudan.”

Also discussed was the regional crises and the necessity of settling them through diplomatic means, as the Summit reiterated the importance of finding a diplomatic solution to the Syrian crisis based on the UN Security Council Resolution 2245.

They preconditioned any solution to the Syrian crisis by creating the possibility of the voluntary return of Syrian refugees and preserving Syria’s territorial integrity.

They welcomed the newly formed interim Libyan government, expressing support for the country’s upcoming elections. The leaders highlighted the importance that mercenaries and foreign forces be expelled from the country.

The Summit discussed the efforts in bringing peace through diplomacy in Yemen based on the pertinent international resolutions.

The leaders of the three countries underscored their commitment to the non-interference in countries’ internal affairs principles, and they emphasized cooperation to advance interests and uphold regional security and stability.

They highlighted the importance of removing trade obstacles and bolstering cooperation on health, industry and pharmaceutical scopes, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

They also agreed to cooperate on intelligence, security and war on crime and drug trafficking. They would share expertise on cybercrime, crime and terrorism combatting, emphasizing the need to continue the war on terror.
