Austrian President visits Al-Husseini Mosque, tours downtown Amman

Amman, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and his wife, on Tuesday, visited the Al-Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman, checked on its interior and external design and was briefed on its historical background.

The Austrian President also toured the streets of King Faisal, Al-Saadah and Bayt Sira. During his tour, President Van der Bellen visited the Al-Taleeah Bookshop, checked on its books and ate Knafa (Arabic sweets) at Habiba Sweets store.

President Van der Bellen, who arrived earlier in Amman on an official visit, also dropped by Jordan’s first post office building that was established in 1924 and visited the Duke of Mukheibeh Cultural Residence, which is located in the oldest townhouse in central Amman.

The Austrian President was accompanied by the Jordanian Ambassador to Austria, the Austrian Ambassador to Jordan and the Embassy’s staff.
