ASEZA chairman, UAE officials discuss tourism, economic cooperation

Chief Commissioner of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Nayef Bakheet, discussed with an Emirati delegation, on Wednesday, cooperation in the tourism and economic investment fields.

Speaking during the meeting, attended by Ministers of Transport, Wajeeh Azayza, and Tourism, Nayef Fayez, Bakheet said Jordan and the UAE have “distinguished” relations in all fields, adding that today’s meeting continues discussions aimed to enhance economic and tourism cooperation, and benefit from opportunities, investment incentives, and customs and tax facilitations, offered at ASEZA.

Bakheet briefed the UAE delegation on ASEZA’s most important investment opportunities and incentives offered to investors from all over the world, noting that ASEZA was established in line with a Royal vision to become ” an economic and logistical hub” at the regional and global levels.

Bakheet said Aqaba city witnessed the launch of “major” economic and tourism investments, and an “advanced” port system.

ASEZA, he said, is featured by an ” advanced” infrastructure in the education, health and tourism sectors, pointing out that Aqaba is located at the gateway of Jordan’s Golden Triangle tourism (Petra, Aqaba, Wadi Rum), a diversity that offers “distinguished” tourism product thanks to Aqaba’s strategic location linking 3 countries, as the Kingdom’s sole sea port to other countries.

For their part, Head of the UAE delegation and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, Mohammed Juma Al Shamsi, stressed the UAE government’s interest in investing in Jordan, and Aqaba in particular, due to the Kingdom’s “stimulating” investment environment, with attractive investment privileges in all fields, especially in economic, tourism and logistical areas.
