Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major Gen. Yousef Huneiti, on Tuesday discussed with Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and First Deputy Minister of Defence, Gen. Valery Gerasimov, the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.
Discussions also went over cooperation and coordination aspects in the field of joint military training, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations to serve interests of the two friendly countries’ armies.
Speaking during the meeting held at Russian Army headquarters, Huneiti stressed the “deep-rooted” Jordanian-Russian relations, which came as a result of the international efforts undertaken by His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF) to strengthen cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries on various levels.
Huneiti stressed the importance of Russia’s role in achieving stability in Syria, especially in southern Syria regions.
Gerasimov, for his part, underlined the extent of joint cooperation with the JAF and exchange of military expertise, through defense industries and various workshops and activities, which are “constantly” exchanged between the two friendly armies to enhance joint efforts at various levels.
