Army, AND foil drug smuggling attempt at northern border

The Northern Military Zone, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), on Thursday thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs from the Syrian territories into the Kingdom.

A source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said the border personnel applied the rules of engagement with the smugglers as a “precautionary” measure.

Searching the area, the agents found 30 palm-sized sheets of hashish and 100, 000 Captagon pills, all of which were referred to relevant authorities, added the source.

The Army will apply “full force” to thwart any infiltration or smuggling attempts to protect the Kingdom’s borders and citizens, said the source.
