The total area of licensed buildings in the first half of 2021 reached some 2.956 million square metres, compared with 1. 471m square metres during the same period of 2020, marking a 101 per cent increase, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced on Wednesday.
The area of housing buildings totalled 2.606 million square metres in the January-June period of 2021, compared with some 1,262m square metres in the same period last year, registering a hike of 106.5 per cent, the DoS said.
The department added that the number of licences went up by 115.5 per cent from 4,673 in the first six months of 2020 to 10,072 licenses in the corresponding period of 2021.
