Arab League urges decision makers to address poverty to achieve development
Cairo, The Arab League has called on decision makers in Arab countries to exert all national, regional and international effort to address the poverty issue to achieve development.
During the inauguration ceremony of the Arab Sustainable Development Week (ASDW) in Cairo, Secretary-General of the pan-Arab organization, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, underlined the importance of organizing the ASDW against the backdrop of current regional and international developments.
“We can never deny that there is still a gap between the development efforts of governments on the one hand and the aspirations and expectations of peoples for a better life,” he said, stressing that the widening gap between the reality and peoples’ ambitions is not in the interest of governments or peoples.
