Arab League calls for halting interference in Syrian crisis

Cairo, Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on Sunday met with the United Nations’ newly-appointed Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, to discuss the latest developments of the Syrian crisis.

Abul Gheit’s spokesperson, Mahmoud Afifi said the Secretary-General called for halting international and regional interference that negatively affects peace efforts in Syria.

Pedersen stressed the importance of reaching a peaceful solution that caters to the Syrian people’s aspirations.

The envoy reviewed the most prominent results of the contacts he has had with the parties concerned with the Syrian crisis since he assumed position.
